Attorney General Discloses Inquiry into President's Rivals and Epstein Ties

On Friday, Pam Bondi appointed interim US attorney Jay Clayton to head an probe into opponents of Donald Trump and their connections with the late financier. This action came just after the president ordered her to initiate the investigation.

During an announcement, Bondi praised Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. She remarked, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”

This development seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from federal authorities which declared that the Epstein files lacked grounds for further inquiries. As per the document, authorities “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties”

The President Calls for Focus on Democrats in the Epstein Matter

The announcement comes as growing pressure from Trump on lawmakers to oppose the full release of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision in the coming days. Many Republicans are expected to back the release.

Recently released emails from Jeffrey Epstein have highlighted Trump’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, revealing information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

On Friday, Trump declared he would direct the DOJ to examine Epstein’s ties with Democrats, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.
