The Ryding siblings are among those affected.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their travel arrangements and match passes arranged for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "12 months ago", anticipating a long-awaited triumph.

Asked whether he believed England will win a match in this contest, Sam said: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"Necessarily, there must be several individuals that stands up for England and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the group remains anticipating the trip.

"We will have a wonderful trip anyway," said Katie. "Our approach is that attitude."

"Naturally, it's a let-down we can't contest the series, but we have spent so much money as it is."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season out there. Additionally, it's our first experience away from home during the festive period."

A schoolteacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the lengthy journey as part of her time off.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to rely on," she added.
