Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Dies in an LA Traffic Collision

The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in California at the age of 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in LA on Sunday morning, according to.

"This represents a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, his family, and everyone impacted by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
